Portsmouth Muay Thai Ltd is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive training environment for all members, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and take all reasonable steps to protect them from harm, abuse, neglect, bullying, or exploitation.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and our standards apply to all coaches, staff, volunteers, members, parents/guardians, and visitors.

 

Our Safeguarding Commitment

At Portsmouth Muay Thai Ltd, we are committed to:

  • Placing the welfare and safety of members first

  • Providing a respectful, inclusive, and supportive training environment

  • Maintaining professional boundaries between coaches and members

  • Ensuring safe coaching practices and appropriate supervision

  • Promoting positive behaviour and respect between members

  • Taking all safeguarding concerns seriously and responding appropriately

 

Safe Training Environment

Muay Thai is a contact sport, and we work to ensure training is delivered safely and responsibly. We do this by:

  • Providing qualified and responsible coaching

  • Supervising junior and vulnerable members appropriately

  • Promoting safe training practices

  • Encouraging open communication between members, parents, and coaches

 

Staff and Coach Responsibilities

Our coaches and staff are expected to:

  • Treat all members fairly and respectfully

  • Maintain professional conduct at all times

  • Follow safeguarding and safe coaching guidance

  • Support member wellbeing during training

Where appropriate, coaches working with children or vulnerable members will undergo safer recruitment and background checks.

 

Parents and Guardians

We work in partnership with parents and guardians to ensure children train safely. Parents and guardians are encouraged to:

  • Provide accurate medical and emergency information

  • Inform us of any safeguarding concerns

  • Support gym rules and safety guidance

 

Photography and Online Safety

We respect member privacy and seek appropriate consent before using images or videos of members, particularly children, for promotional or social media purposes.

 

Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

If you have any safeguarding concerns about a child, young person, or vulnerable adult, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
